blur Marketing Meets Pasquale
What could be better than understanding our crowd, more fully at blur Marketing, than with some interviews? To throw a few questions into the spotlight to discover the real personality behind the marketing pro? Here is what happened when blur Marketing took a deeper insight into the world of one of our crowd members Pasquale Monteleone.
Firstly, let us introduce you to Pasquale. With an international background (currently living in Milan) and thorough experience in institutional and public relations, Pasquale specialises in PR consulting, relationship building, event and project managment. With over 1700 connections on LinkedIn, and nearly 4000 connections on ASMALL WORLD alone, his roles have ranged from International Marketing Manager, International Relations Manager to Export Manager and Account Handler. These have been working with various institutions, SME and multinationals.
Socially intruiging indeed! Want to know more? Take a sneaky peek at what we asked him….
1) What attracted you to join blur Marketing? What are your opinions on our Crowdsourced model? I was invited by my dear friend Benedetta Soffientini. I am quite a fan of crowdsourcing, as it allows flexibility in ideas and development.
2) What motivated you to get out of your bed and into the fury of the marketing world? My congenital passion for whatever stimulates mind, and for contexts that do not mind..passion.
3) What are your future aspirations/ career plans? Moving abroad and find an in-house position in a non bureaucratic and open-minded milieu.
4) What qualities do you feel a marketer needs to have in order to be successful? Which qualities do you feel you have? Be sharp, pro-active, well-versed in monitoring and anticipating trends, persuasive and analytical before people. – Hopefully all of the above, with a constant eye on ethics and respect.
5) What is your favourite campaign/project? Do not have a specific preference. I am particularly intrigued by innovative and clearly-conveyed campaigns, in their content and tools/technology.
6) What has been your career highlight? Professionally speaking, my campaigns with citizens being the ultimate “client”. Personally speaking, the people I have met and the lessons they have provided me with.
7) With the emergence of web 2.0, marketing strategies have changed and are adapting to new technology. How has this change affected you? I have been an experimenter of Web 2.0 since the definition was not in use yet. My first access to online communities and media has been in 1994. A great way to get in touch with the world and be a free spectator of its dynamics; oftentimes a priceless platform to actually be active in certain global processes.
8 ) What’s the main difference between digital pr and traditional pr? Digital PR may probably become “traditional” within a matter of years. Based on this perception, I would say that for the moment being…Digital PR is different in its operational field and in the tools it allows.
9) How has digital PR adapted into your daily routine? Considering my pedigree in social media, it is one of the most pleasant and flexible instruments I rely upon, both for social and professional ventures.
10) What do you feel is the difference between digital pr and social media marketing? Based on my experience within the PR/Comms sector, I see Digital PR being sometimes bound to certain activities that omit marketing’s (social and non social) proactivity.
What is your favourite…
* Blog? Unfortunately I am not a big fan of Blogs. I prefer online communities as organized and better moderated platforms.
* Superhero? Fiction: Robin Hood/Superman; Non-Fiction: Lady D; Mahatma Gandhi
* Film? Forrest Gump for the quality of messages (simple and realistic); Munich for the sharp blend between cinema & history.
* Advertising company/company? I would be unable to prefer an ADV Company, as each one has subjective pros&cons. Company-wise: BMW
* PC or MAC? PC
*twitter or facebook? Facebook
*linkedin or blurMarketing? TBD in the next few months
There we have it! Be sure to connect with and visit Pasquale’s profile at blur Marketing.
We would like to thank him for his kind co-operation for taking part in our online interview.
